The “Mom Tree” is the piece I did for my mom, just before she died in December 2020. Unfortunately, she never got to see it.
My mom got sick a few months earlier and was in and out of the hospital during that time. I started on this piece around that time, and had it done before she died, but I never got a chance to show it to her.
The following Christmas was our first without my mom, and we felt it. Since I wasn’t able to give this illustration to her, I decided to make a companion piece for it called “Ron Side” and gave both to my stepdad Ron for Christmas.
